Jess Roskelley Legacy Grant

The Lowa x Jess Roskelley Legacy Grant

The LOWA x Jess Roskelley Legacy Grant is a $5,000 annual award created to honor the life, legacy, and adventurous spirit of Jess Roskelley.

In partnership with LOWA Boots, the grant supports non-professional climbers who balance full-time work with a deep commitment to the mountains — echoing Jess’s own self-funded climbing journey.

Each year, the grant helps fund meaningful expeditions, first ascents, and alpine objectives, with special consideration for regions Jess loved most: Alaska, Patagonia, Canada, and the Himalayas.

2026 Grant Update

We have selected this year’s recipient and will be announcing them soon. We’re incredibly excited to support their upcoming expedition and continue carrying Jess’s spirit into the mountains.

Looking Ahead:

Applications for the next cycle will open in October 2026 for expeditions taking place in 2027.

If you’d like to apply, please check back this fall for updated guidelines and materials.

Our Mission: The Jess Roskelley Foundation exists to promote public projects and outdoor activities that will benefit generations to come and provide access to the wild places cherished by Jess, while preserving his legacy as a lifelong Spokane, Washington native and elite international alpinist.

We aim to support climbers with an undying passion for the mountains—those who pursue the sport not for accolades, but because it lives in their bones, even when faced with the raw reality of risk, suffering, and the edge between life and death.
